Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased; for when he dies he will carry nothing away.
His glory will not descend after him. Though while he lives he congratulates himself—and though men praise you when you do well for yourself—He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they will never see the light. Man in his pomp, yet without understanding, is like the beasts that perish.
Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy.
If you see bad people living good, wealthy lives, don’t be deceived into believing that they are being blessed and that they’ll get away with their behavior. Everybody have to pay for the consequences of their sins and bad behavior. And everybody will be rewarded for righteous and good behavior.
But the difference between the righteous children of God and those who are wicked and evil is that the children of God may suffer and be punished for their sins. But the punishment may be gentler if you are truly a good person and really want to change and if you really want to be righteous and follow God’s ways.
There’s a difference between being wicked and doing wicked things.
There’s a difference between sinning and doing wicked things because of ignorance, and being truly wicked and evil and to have no righteousness, goodness, or truth within.
Good people can sin and make mistakes and do wicked things, but it doesn’t mean that they really are wicked and have no goodness within them or that they will go to hell.
You can change your ways, and if you’re truly sorry for your behavior and you stop disobeying God, hurting yourself and other people, God will have mercy on you. But if you don’t, you will be separated from Him, and that’s what hell really is, separation from God. It’s to be in a place where there’s no goodness, no light, and no joy, just hurt, pain, misery, sin, immorality, and darkness. Bad, evil people will go to hell, and truly good, repentant people will be given mercy, redemption, and salvation.
And if you’ve been a sinner in the past because of ignorance but God took you out of the darkness and enlightened you, you are worse off than you were before if you go back to sinning again. With wisdom and enlightenment comes responsibility, and if you don’t use the wisdom right, you will suffer the consequences of it.
God has given you a new chance to do things right; use it wisely.
Scriptures On Enlightenment And Responsibility
Hebrews 6:4: The Peril of Falling Away:
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.
For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned.”
“Better Things for You”
But, beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we are speaking in this way. For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints.
And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Hebrews 10:26: Christ or Judgment:
For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “vengeance is mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
But remember the former days, when, after being enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings, partly by being made a public spectacle through reproaches and tribulations, and partly by becoming sharers with those who were so treated.
For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one. Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
