Beware of distractions and keep the right Focus. Distractions are the greatest obstacle in walking the narrow path that leads to God.
The path towards God and living the heavenly life in God’s kingdom is the Narrow Path; it’s a path that requires much work, discipline, diligence, and effort. It requires much focus, strength, will, and perseverance.
There will be a lot of distractions and roads that will lead us away from getting closer to God than the ones leading us on the right road towards Him.
There will be distractions like TV games, TV shows, movies, parties, drugs, and alcohol.
All that seems more fun, more comfortable, and easier than studying God’s word and doing God’s work, helping others, doing charity, and staying disciplined and focused and keeping the commandments.
Of course it’s easier to do what you want all the time instead of following rules, but where will it lead you? Yes, it may be fun to smoke, drink, and party every weekend, but it won’t be fun when your body starts reacting after years of poisoning it.
Obeying God and His commandments may not be comfortable or easy right now, but in the end you will be glad that you did it, because you will see the benefits from it, and you will reap a good harvest that you can enjoy for a long time. Yes, it requires sacrifice, it requires the willingness and the courage to be who you are, to be what God wants you to be, and do what He calls you to do. It requires you to sacrifice time and energy, and it requires you to sacrifice fun for work.
It requires that you work hard now, so that you can have much greater joy later than what you ever could without it.
Make good choices now by focusing on the right things that bring you closer to God. Sacrifice a little bit time, work, and energy for God now, and see a great harvest later.
Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.
1 Chronicles 28:20:
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.”
DO THE HARD WORK NOW, SAVE THE BEST FOR LATER.
