Why Does God Allow Evil?

Genesis 3:4:
The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

We are all here because of the sin of man; we could be living life in paradise, in Eden. But since we chose to believe the serpent’s lies and ate of the “forbidden fruit,” we are now being shown the consequences of not keeping the commandments. God told us to keep His commandments and to not eat of the tree of life, because then you shall surely die. The serpent told us that God’s truth and commandments were “keeping us from having fun,” and keeping us from being like God, and that if we ate of it, we would be like God and see all the good and the evil.

The serpent claimed that by not following God and being under His authority and rules, we could have better lives by being in control and living our own lives after our own lust, will, and desire. So now we are going through the testing of whether this statement is through or not.

What do you think? Are we good at controlling and managing our own lives alone, without God? Are we happy and satisfied with our lives? Are we reaping a good harvest?

We’re also being tested in our faithfulness towards God and His commandments. And those who haven’t been faithful in keeping them, because they believed the lies of the devil, that it was keeping us from having fun and “living our lives,” are now learning the lesson “the hard way.”
That God’s commandments were for our own good, to keep us away from the wickedness, pain, and suffering we are seeing in the world today.

Instead of keeping the commandments and living a peaceful, comfortable, pain-free life, we are now instead going through the consequences of not keeping them, like diseases, unwanted pregnancies, abortions, cheating, heartbreak, anger, jealousy, resentment, war, hate, and all of the darkness and wickedness we see in the world.

God keeps the devil here to separate His good people, who are righteous and who want a place in heaven, from the ones who choose to disobey Him and who are following the devils wickedness.

When God allows evil things to happen, it’s usually to test our ability to forgive, to practice unconditional love, and to have faith in God and our willingness to be righteous regardless of what has happened to us and what people have done to us. It’s also at times to test our strength in resisting temptations and to keep a good attitude through difficulties.
