Hebrews 12:11: No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields a peaceful harvest of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
What if everybody quit doing everything they didn’t feel like doing, how do you think this world would be like? What if everybody stopped brushing their teeth’s because they didn’t feel like it? What if everybody stopped going to school because they didn’t feel like it? Or what if everybody stopped working because they didn’t feel like working? What makes the world go around are people who are getting up every day, disciplining themselves to do what they should and are supposed to do, whether they feel like it or not. It is people who are taking their part of the responsibility. People who succeed in life are people who discipline themselves to get up and do things they don’t necessarily love or like doing, but they do it regardless to get the results and the success they are looking for.
Sometimes you got to do the things you hate or dislike to get a life you’ll love to have. Sometimes you have to sacrifice joy and comfort in the present to get greater joy and comfort in the future.
That cashier, bus driver, that kindergarten or school teacher, that dentist, doctor, and all those people in service you see regularly might not feel like working or doing what they’re doing. But thank God that they do discipline themselves and get up and do their job so we can use their services and get the help we need in these different areas of our lives. Make it your goal to be that stable, reliable person who does your part of the responsibility and who contributes to the world going around.
